Repairing a failed slope can be a costly business. Traditionally if the failure extends deeper than superficial surface erosion, the repair involves excavating and removing the failed fill material, to replace it with imported granular fill. Not only is it time consuming and expensive (especially if it incurs landfill and aggregate taxation), it’s also environmentally damaging. But with Tensar technology, geogrids can be used for a quicker, cost-effective and more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional solutions.
Quite simply, this involves bench excavating the soil beyond the failure zone, and then replacing the soil and reinforcing with Tensar geogrids as it’s replaced, with improved drainage measures to intercept any seepage. With far less need for additional imported fill and fewer site movements, costs, construction time and carbon emissions can all be reduced – as can traffic disruption.
